How to Read the Bible

Have you ever picked up a Bible, read its words, and walked away unchanged, uninspired, and uncertain? Maybe you even thought, “This is the word of God?” The problem is that we tend to treat the Bible like it’s any other book. But reading the Bible like any other book isn’t the best way to engage with it. Reading the Bible is like snorkeling or a process of investigation and asking questions.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What are your current rhythms of reading the Bible?

  2. Do you find yourself wanting to read the Bible more or less?

  3. What are some ways you have noticed God forming you as you’ve read the Bible in the past?

  4. Try to put these tips to work! Matthew 8:5-13 is a great passage to start with.
